Mars Man had left the now-Jam power pop 1978 trio of New Frustrations but like I said: 1978, power-pop, Jam, good stuff AND a cover of "teenage head"! people even came up from Plymouth! (which, ironically, as a descendant of Richard Warren of the mayflower, as are those Allin boys from Malpractice, MY, Mayflower ancestors were hangin' in Plymouth with GG and Merle!). Lastly, since I'd paid $8, State of the Union was a VERY pleasant surprise! More power pop, I read about Clash, Buzzcocks, etc. on their website, more 1978 UK power pop-punk, very listenable. an encore of "beat on the brat"= last song I ever heard ramones play in '96 and second song Ken Kaiser and i ever played friday 11 feb 77.
folks i ran into with local music news: Robert Alan Colby WILL be having his 65th birthday in august before he moved to Tar Heel state, i mention manchester NH gig, lotsa GG tales, Jeremy from Mystery Train and Keith from Rocket Records talkin' 'bout.....RECORDS!!!!!!! lastly, soundman Mark Davis (who DOES read this misghigas!) and Danny whom was roomates with Dogmatics drummer saw Rick Berlin (the Waiter) at Doyle's when we ate there; Mark conferred he was doing sound at the Underground tuesday 9 sept 80 when Heroes played with Big World and Danny had brought Nash Cato to frank rowe's midway birthday in auguste.....SO if I DO hear Urge Overkill covering "she wants the kielbasa".....

"Gee Julie did a VERY nice birthday for me at Fire and Ice with the Korps, matt Burns from V and Paula from WMFO BUT Yardbirds "turn into earth", fucken Billy Nighshade died! He was an MBA student at IU fall '77, answered ad for punk-rock band, that being the Gizmos; Gizmos Mach II moved to NJ, then the Unattached moved from Worcester Mass. to Boston and by thanksgiving '82, they opened for Nina Hagen at channel, so i met Clann Fraser. 1982-2017 is 35 years worth of memories but I'll be tellin' tails like i do about Gg Allin (gone, not forgotten). lettuce just say "I'm so glad" eddie flowers booked a Gizmos versus Gizmos gig in bloomington last summer and THE last tyme i saw Billy Nightshade, our clanns (MacBheath and fraser) were dueting on that Gizmos ode to "French love" (the auld alliance lads!) therefore, like Duncan Macleod he WILL come back (Highlander) and 'is soul took the short way back to the Highlands (Fraserburgh?). Daryl o' clann Fraser was a "warrior/poet....he played (bass) like Scotsmen". say hi to william wallace for me"....

"gigs keep pouring in and i'm alive to do them: next one (i think) is club linehan-ago-go c-note hull mass sunday 28 may 17 BUT always "dealing with the dead" (Plan 9 poem i read on an lp on midnight in '84 maybe), Billy Nightshade HAS communicated to me! I found his dad's grave in pelican rapids minnesota on find-a-grave and billy's grandad born illinois november 1864 (Civil War!) (I was scouring those census so much i took leave of my census!). How, like everything, does this tie into ME: Billy Nightshade's great-grandfather born 1822-1823 in virginia; parents born in Maryland like Dad's father, the MockBees. 1850 census has Frazier's as farmers in Sandy, Ohio (near Canton and due north of Columbus where there's a Gizmos cd on jukebox);this is three hours NW of where my great-great John McBee was a blacksmith in Basnetssville virginia. of course also a Buckeye with a maryland McBee granny was Glen Buxton of alice cooper who descends from a reverend Buxton in Homer, Licking, Ohio whereEVER the Grand Funk that is. Billy's great-grandfather Frazier was shirley a pioneer: born virginia, 1850 in Ohio, then 1864 illinois finally, like Buddy Holly dying in Clear Lake Iowa. trying to narrow down Fraziers in maryland and their trek from scotland equals my McBees, and this writin' SHOULD go in Vulchur almost for Dead People Facts but I found Frazier's in st. john parish, maryland (that's fort washington) where my great-great-great and father McBee were before moving to western virginia. there also was a Frazier kidnapped, sold into white slavery (indentured servant) southern maryland where my MockBee landed and THIS is THE ultimate tribute: the north carolina Fraziers, like Bonnie Raitt, were scottish quakers (as were some McBees) and I want y'all to remember billy frazier/daryl nightshade as, unlike me, having a Quaker type personality. RIP again and on my fucken birthday too"....
