The BGN News Archive

April 10, 2005

So we went to see The Late Risers Club Movie and You'll Pay For This, wow my friends, WHAT a fantastic double bill.... it's like taking a most awesome ride in a time tunnel machine... The show was sold out, coz it played in the teenzy tiny screening room! But SO many people showed up to try to get in, they made a secondary list and some folks got to see it in a SECOND room!! but hey what's really cool is of all is YOU get a chance to see the films!!! Yes that's right, there's be a midnite show on Saturday, May 7th, at the Coolidge Corner Cinema...in the larger room so there'll be plenty of seats..and really if you read the BGN and are interested in the old stuff you will truely super-enjoy an evening of this double bill!!...Gulcher has just re-released Hello World, the 1978 album by The Korps which was Kenne Highland, >Ken Kaiser, Kim Kane and Martha Hull of the Slickee Boys....You wanna order it, so go to Gulcher. This album has a lot of historical significance for me...Kenne Highland and I had just met, or maybe just married, I'm not sure, but I do know that "We Are The Only Real People" was a LUV song 'bout us... those were some good ole days and LONG gone as well..but for one of THE best performances by a female vocalist you absolutely HAVE to hear Martha Hull singing "I Wanna Burn Out", brilliant...and I remember this: she never saw the song until about 20 mintues before it was time to record it...amazing!!! I wonder where she is today!! Still singing I hope... anyway this is a cool disc and you should order it!!! Folks I just got this important note and wanted to share it with you: "Hey ! Look at me! I'm packing up my microphone and squeezing into my red plastic pants again! Wicked psyched for The Mach V's Opening Day! Ready to raise holy-hell with Dee, Carl and Jimmy! The Mach V is a band that is gonna make a lot of noise! So take your choice - join us for our first-ever, all-new-The Mach V premiere spectacular - or go to your grave wishing you had been there... So that's THIS Thursday, April 14th this is the debut of Dee Stry as the new gitboxster so ya just dont' wanna miss it!!.... John Felice and Billy Cole will be playing at The Kirkland on Thursday, April 21st , but NOT as The Real Kids. ………and we hear that the Preston Wayne Four is all set to get re-banned from the Kirkland when they play there on Saturday, April 23rd. They will be part of NESMA'S surf fest, also on the bill are The Undertows, 9th Wave and SPF-4… BUT..that's NOT ALL for Saturday, April 23rd: Get ready for the LIPSTICK KILLERS... Mach 5 axeslinger DEE STROY and Cowboy Mach Bell join forces with the infamous Johnnie's for a night of Trash, Pills and no doubt some Bad Girl(s) too. Dee will become Sylvain Sylvain for the night and Mach will be on bass(!), portraying the late, great Arthur Killer Kane (complete w/ tights and platform boots)! Lipstick Killers go on at midnight. Warming up will be buxom sexkitten VIKKI SIXX & SUGABOMB at 9:00! Again, It's all happening at the Midway Cafe Jamaica Plain MA SATURDAY APRIL 23, 2005 (note:Johnny Thunders passed away on April 23, 1991)....Reddy Teddy is at The Attic in Newton Centre on Saturday April 30 with Foxpass...address and info: 107 R Union St, Newton Centre 617-964-6684 - (this is above the Union St Restaurant, which is a great place to get dinner) Reddy Teddy plays at 9 pm, Foxpassplays at 10:15 pm …….
