So, what's comin' up?…..here's a fun gig for ya, as told to us by Artie Sneiderman; O'Brien's, Saturday May 7th: 9:00 - Aloud (music), 10:00 - Crybabies (folk-rock heroes), 11:00 - Classic Ruins (Boston legends)(we whole heartedly agree-ed.) 12:00 - Lady Kensington & the Beatlords (wylde groovy garagiacs from Maine fronted by axe-wielding honey).....also on May 7th … having lived on Mission Hill for 10 years I must share the info and WOW! Has a year gone by so quickly????: is from Kristen "Madcat", "Time again to jump up on the bar and toss money in the can for the kids of Mission Hill!!! Suspect Device is proud to present their 5th, yep, 5th annual benefit for the Mission Hill Little League. For those of you who have come to "The Pig" in the past, you know this is our biggest party of the year! The band does two sets, everyone gets fed and loaded and throws money in the can - last year y'all raised just over $700 in voluntary donations for the kids - we're shooting for $1K this year!! And to think it all started when we found out about the Rastafarian kid whose dreadlocks wouldn't fit into a batting helmet- well, by coming to the show (which is FREE) and donating whatever you can directly to the kids, you can help get the kids to bat!...not to mention off the streets, etc….Ok - details: FRIDAY MAY 7th @ THE PARADISE 8pm Doors - FREEEEEE! But donations will be collected throughout the night. Get their early for FREE PIZZA too….SPECIAL GUESTS - THE PUG UGLIES will open the show, then 2 sets of Suspect Device"…..", now on May 8th…The Downbeat 5 open for The Surfaris, whose drum solo in their classic "Wipeout" was an inspiration to aspiring drummers everywhere. The Strangemen round out the bill. Downstairs at The Middle East"….the cover is..OUCH…$15….. Drag The River (with The Guts and The Dents) at The Abbey Next Monday May 10th..be there!! and May 14th at Doc Ryan's Pub in Salem is D.O.A., The Dickies along with The Country Doctors… And don't forget about this stuff coming up: Jon Macey and The Score (Michael Roy, John Jules-Fox Pass) playing at The Kirkland, Saturday May 22nd with The Marshalls (power pop) who also have a long local Boston scene history…so this show will be GOOD!! Pop-y and awesome musicians who can REALLY write and play….Also may 22 is the Annual White Trash Festival…. weeeehaw…Coffin Lids, Rock City Crime Wave, White Trash Deluxeand many many others……. Real Kids are at Doc Ryan's May 28th……… Blackjacks Reunion at The Abbey June 11th……AND…June 11th is also: the final cut of ALL KINDSA GIRLS, will screen at the Coolidge Corner Theatre on Friday June 11th as part of a Boston music and film series from program director Clinton McClung. The date marks the one-year anniversary for Controversy Films at Coolidge Corner Theatre, where the rough-cut screening of ALL KINDSA GIRLS, sold out two shows on June 10, 2003. The Real Kids will perform live prior to the screening, along with special guests The Star Spangles from New York. Four first cousins from Central Islip, Long Island, the Spangles cite The Real Kids as a major influence. On June 17th they open for Bow Wow Wow at the Middle East. Also included in the final cut are interviews with Ace of Hearts producer Rick Harte, best known for his work with Mission of Burma, and Norton Records founder Miriam Linna. John Felice's solo album NOTHING PRETTY has been remastered and was re-released this month by Harte and Norton. Two songs from this largely unknown collection of Felice material are featured in the final cut: the title song, "Nothing Pretty" and "I'll Never Sing that Song Again" with its reference to the anthem "All Kindsa Girls." . Congrats to Boston's Munk for getting "Anime Sweetheart" played on the Soprano's the other day!!……please be sure to scroll down and check out our newest addition Mad About Town by JJ Rassler!!!
