The Dickies and Muck & The Mires

Middle East Up

October 27, 2016

Dickies
Dickies

The Dickies brought their tongue in cheeks pop punk to a well packed ME Up this past Thursday night. The crowd is in from the the first crack of "Rosemary". The pace never lets up from there. Gangly Leonard Graves Phillips helium vocals cut clear through the jumped up din. Stan Lee and Ben Seelig kept the guitar buzz catchy, urgent and piercing. Adam Gomez looks dapper in a paisley bow tie. He locks the bpms in up near 200. Eddie Tater is a big boy rockin’ a big bass guitar. He did his part for the harmonies. So did the crowd. On their favorites, some sang word for word. Almost everyone went for a ride on the choruses.

The Dickies fly through over twenty tunes. They jump cut from "I’m Ok", to "Store" to "Nights In White Satin". They barely take a breath as they nod and wink through Manny, Moe and Jack, Paranoid and You Drive Me Ape. The Banana Splits Theme sends everyone home infected with an irresistible guilty pleasure earworm. The Dickies take their funny business seriously. In turn, they make sure everyone in attendance has a seriously good time.
