Toxic

A Warning Tale

Long ignored yet causing extensive harm, the wide swath of destruction and human suffering caused by Earborne Toxic Events is finally getting the attention it deserves.
This agency has been created to help disseminate information and coordinate help where needed. It is sustained as a sub agency of FEMA the Federal Disaster Agency. It's reach is nationwide including Hawaii and Alaska as well as Puerto Rico and the Marshall Islands. It coordinates internationally when called for and has special units that interact with Canada and Mexico.
It is hoped that the new attention will stem the tide of future preventable incidents and mitigate other unforeseen events.

The first thing one can do about a Earborne Toxic Event is avoid situations that encourage its origins. One does not want to expose oneself unnecessarily.
Is the event you are going to advertise ‘strings’ ? That would be an item to investigate. Although there are other methods, ‘strings’ is a common cause of FEMA responces. And one must be careful. A violin may be alright but are people around you talking about a ‘fiddle’? It may be time to check for available exits whereas a hasty evacuation may be required.
Most people know a banjo or mandolin are incubators of Earborne troubles but don’t let ignorance cause you to expose yourself unwittingly. For instance do you know the damage that just one zither can cause? We would rather stop one zither and let a boat load of banjos play. They are now talking of having an entire agency deal with just zithers. It would be the judicious thing to do.

Special Dangers
As much as any one instrument can cause extensive repercussions and human suffering nothing can compare when several elements combine to create a Level 10 Earborne event. A dulcimer on its own can cause more pain than we would want to even discuss on this website but to combine that with other instruments and add hillbilly singing, well this is ground zero for something that is even hard to think about. It does happen. People don’t know or don’t care and the clean up falls to us at this agency. We can only warn and then warn again about this ‘snowball’ effect of multiple source Earborne Toxic Events.
