i had in my hands freitag 19 august 77. saturday 3 sept 77 I had
sang "gloria" at cantones with baby's arm but in the "real"
world, this chicago r and b station (equal of WILD,Boston) playing
GREAT '70s r and b coz...it wuz da '70s! 0641 was "(everytime
i turn around) back in love again" by LTD
with a bass lick that sounds like Kenne Highland on bass in Mad
Painter but THE gem was 0739 the brothers johnson doing
"strawberry letter 23", number four in chicago
that week; a cover of a Shuggie (son of "willie and the hand
jive" Johnny!) Otis toon now that it's aint 1977 no mo', sounds
like pre-Prince Prince! So, somewhere at Marine Barracks, fort meade,
maryland i heard Bros. Johnson BEFORE and AFTER guarding the NSA.
As for Prince, I were station Marine Barracks, Charleston SC and
a brother in da barracks from Landover Maryland ("I went to
high school with Sugar Ray leonard!") played me EIGHT TRACKS
of P-Funk and me: "who dis?" "that's Prince",
first album, process hair. AND maybe I'd recorded "death to
disco" april '77; my solo on Iggy inspired by Brian
James on the Damned "I Fall"!".....

Sonntag 28 Jan 2024. "Rainy day mushroom pillow", so
I set my Strawberry alarm clock for some tyme to eye dat big ass
fanzine coffee table book Miss Lyn got from The
Brooklyn Museum. It's the Copy Machine Manifesto
book/catalogue.
A bit of Boston 'zines in there like Dirt/BGN/Roller babe/Miscarriage.
So some 1977 bits: I arrive in Boston Jack Kerouac birthday 12
Jan 77, Kerouac's double cousin takes me to The Club for Sea King
(pre-Stompers!) and Third Rail and a 20 year
old Marine PFC meets Mark and Lynelle from Dirt.
14 Feb 77 Miss Lyn writes me at marine Barracks, Fort Meade, Md.
:"maybe you know about me through Greg Shaw" (same year
I had no clue who farreh Fawcett was). Lastly, Afrika
Korps played Cantone's in da fall '77
and the Gruberger Brothers stayed with Loretta of Miscarriage;
early '84,Carmen wuz in underachievers
and "needed a drummer" since JIM JANOTA had left; I
volunterred Robert of Clann MacKenzie, whom had
played with Lou Miami/Lyres/GG Allin and KK Highland! again, Dino
Crocetti: "Memories are made of this"

Monntag 29 january 2024. harvard film archives. "afterimage...for
a new,radical cinema". Le vent d'east (wind from the
east). Jon Luc Godard! 1970. Tom Wolfe penned the phrase
"radical chic" maybe; a psychedliec movie spouting lotsa
marxist rhetoric (I'm a Groucho Marxist micelf, agin), there's youtube,
and Linda Garreau (moi cousine,cousine) and I saw Louis Malle's
Mai Fou about the may '68 riots en Francais. This series looks promsaing
AND, as a lumpen proletariat whose Puritan ancestor sold sold to
Elder Frost (Harvard founder) eight bux is a GREAT rebate on land
i sold 11 generatons ago about 1639! speaking of which what WAS
33 Dunster street (also ancestral land) gonna be used for events!

Montag 29 jan 2024. 0500. PBS. Funny Woman.
episode four (watchable on PBS app.). Highlights: couple Etta
James songs, going into a discotech ("d'yer think we moit
see a beat ill?") and dancing to Francoise Hardy (ye ye and
oui oui!) but for ME, the goddam ear worm makin' me sing Hot Tuna's
"fishin' blues" was "I was Kaiser Bill's
Batman" by Whistling Jack Smith, a 1967 hit I maybe
heard drivin' through Canada from my great-grandmother Highland
reunion. written by roger greenaway and roger cook! whose songwriting
credits include "i'd like to teach the world to sing in perfect
harmony". released Nov 71. The previous month I had bought
Stooges Funhouse and Go Bo Diddley (read my ffanzeen
interview from '78 when memory was fresher). To quote Marvel
comix: "Nuff Said"!

day of Thor 1 feb 2024. Lt larry Newman, USMCV/SFMF
wrote that James "Hoodoo" Ryan done gone
to hebbin, Mitch Cerulli at Saint Peter's gate
and I KNOW he was on the guest list! I looked at the Swinging
Erudites discogs; J. Angel Wandell and Greg Your Bassist,
still alive and well on facebook, but casulties would be Jimmy
Hoodoo/Brother Cleve and Suzi from one fish two
fish. Last night I played Newburport, Hoodoo wuz lookin'
for Larry and i THINK showed up the second tyme (Mad painter and
kenne highland air force); GREAT to see him! Larry commented how
the Hoodoo BBQ cooks like drummers Randall Lee Gibson IV
and Terry Hanley (Scruffy the Neats, if you will)
is also in rocknroll hebbin; being a descednant of THE last Protestant
martyr whom was burnt the stake twice, I am miror Lee destined
for 'de debbil hole"; ready to move back to my south carolina
trailer and play ONLY vinyl and 8-tracks!"....

a list Lt Larry Newman is compiling now of folks dat had played
wid him. ok, see you there unless you're bingeing on law and order
SVU or other cop shows like i do on Sundays"....
