For the past week, I've had a $1.99 Charlie Pride album
glued to my turntable, bought at Somerville Grooves during 2020
lockdown. Country Feelin' was release May 1974 and even
if I DID have a RFD mailbox at 8452 Ridge Road, Brockport NY, I
remember I was "18" (and "liked it!") gittin'
shit-faced "in town" and blasting "Too Much Too Soon"
and "Raw Power" (which begat my '70s records, read It's
Psychedlic Baby!). "We could" was a April '74 45 release
off'n the album, but I wuz busy hangin' with O. Rex
(Solomon Gruberger and I loved country but none
of them influences on the Gulcher
O. Rex cd) plus I wuz busy meetin' Adny Shernoff and
watchin' NY Dolls/Suzi Quatrocelli at Bottom Line.
These is all POSITIVE country songs,none-a George Jones
"If drinkin' don' kill me" drunken bathos (if
I had a choice between bathing at Baxter's or bathos,I would choose
to NOT bathe,considerin' the "Dirty Water" rates). They
is also "all his children" ,a January '72 release that
were the theme for Sometimes a great notion movie; wrote and produced
by ole Hank mancini! Now if'n only he'd do a bluegrass version of
"The House Panther theme" for ole Peek-a-boo Cardinal.....

Freitag 23 Feb 2024. No Mad Painter practice SO
let's go the movies! Somerville thee-ate-er, Tenet
730 pm. "sci-fi action thriller"; ok that's THREE reasons
to go! Ran into a sci-fi fest dude who said this movie HAD played
"The 'Thon"....and dig this! Denzel Washington's
son is a CIA dude (good actor too!) tracing down the source of some
plot and the bad guys have some kinda device where the present is
past and the past is present. The trippy part is watching bullets
go back into weapons or watching demolished buildings go BACK up.

and mine's mother descend from two brothers, sons of John Corey
Sr. (born about 1658 probably Portsmouth, RI, Gee Julie took me

of a Narangansett chief, orphan, found and adopted by Quakers. grave
just says "E.C.". in North Kingston RI. This is my great-great-grandmother

Freitag saint david's day 1 march 2024. GLUED to my turntable Country
Gold-various artists on the Harmony label $2.00 at
Somerville Grooves sometyme during lockdown in 2020. Harmony has
a wikipedia entry! AND, as I remember, post-Woodstock, it wuz a
Columbia/Epic records budget label, list price $1.98 so I got a
great comp at 1970 prices! Discogs is sellin' 12 copies from $1.03
but anythin' under $4.99 for a case of Blanchards Beer is worth
it. Cover has a young lady in cowboy hat, topless under a denim
jacket'; Woodstock meets the rednecks! (1970). Toons by BOTH of
June Carter's husbands; Carl Smith/Johnny Cash;
a Tammy wynette b-side; Johnny Horton;Claude King,Bob
Luman; Johnny and Jonie Mosby,charlie rich and david houston. Let
me focus on Claude "Wolverton mountain" King singin'
"Laura(what's he got that i aint got)". Besides double
negatives like "(I cant get no)"...dig the chorus: "and
if there's time before i pull this trigger/tell me what he's got
that i aint got". To overly intellucalise these lyrics, wikipedia
states that it IS ambigous about the weapon ('this is my rifle/this
is my gun/one is for killin', the other for fun";i say it's
a pistol): is it a "Hey Joe" homicide or a Kurt Cobain-esque
