Kenne at Large
Norris the Terrible
saturday 9 march 2024. Gee Julie and I got some Wade's bbq WHICH you can take into the Jungle to eat; Saint James Ryan has blessed! Wade's Hoodooed BBQ AND good Jungle musik! On Facebook, Norris the Terrible told me of their "Saturday Gig"; opening set and "Red Painter" (as dubbed by Brian Doherty of Crooked Mirror) had followed them at Square Root. They played some excellent shit-kickin' Southern Fried Americana wid me and Gee Julie dancin' the manure Mambo! Influences: three guitars ala Buffalo Springfield/Moby Grape into Southern Rock (with a lap steel on couple toons!); vocals echoing West Virginia's own Billy Matheny (we have a mutual Fluharty ancestor) and of course Jimmy Miller-era country Stones rock; Exiled on Sanborn Court or wherever we wuz. Some slow toons, others were ravers; great sound system at the Jungle! BUT, as a "Human garbage disposal": wade's and Jungle has a agreement; you can bring into there Wade's food, in fact, they will even go into club and DELIVER it to you! Tell me this aint my new local, ole chap"...

Dientsag 12 march 2024. "I saw the news today oh boy"...Raspberries Eric Carmen RIP. Couple three thoughts: Metal Mike Saunders, pre-Angry SAmoans wuz writin' 'bout the Raspberries in various '70s fanzines (in other he praised Uriah Heep, so blame HIM for my Heep-dom). "Back in '72" (Bob Seger) Ma heard "go all the way" in a white '67 Chevy she "picked up in the Detroit riots"; SHE thought they were singing "Dont walk away" ala Left Banke and Rene, I told her the REAL words (Brat Simpson that I was) and she was mortified! "Back in '73" I did INDEED steal from Eric Carmen for "that's cool" by Gizmos: "boy asked the girl do you wanna go all the way" ("one of the best damn rock and roll records ever made" :saint Michael John Koda; eatin' SUPPER at Victoria Staion wid Brownsville Station!). Lastly, Raspberries played Hilton NY high school (couple towns from Brockport) and me-n-"Jailbait Janet's " boyfriend STORMED the dressing room and I was a manic Rainman wid Raspberries fax; somebody (Carmen) axed "who iz dis guy?"(they damn sho found out two years later in Creem!) and we also got Wally Bryson to autograph a Blue Oyster Cult 8-track....Fast Tymes at Brockport High"!!!

saturday 9 march 2024. youtube had a A Giz-tory of da Jamai BBC document-terry Roots, Reggae, Rebellion.can musik, mon, more like '50s/'60s. NOW I can pinpoint my introduction! Beatles white album purchased december '68,maybe, "ob-la-di-obbl-da" was listed as "blubeAT"; sIR pAUL would have heard it before I and I. Then '69-'70-ish, WCMF Rochester NY DID play Millie Small's "My boy lollipop" in pretty heaven rotatin as an "oldie" (on FM sixties groovy radio,man....) (with Bob Bittner as univeristy of rochester student before WJIB and RIP)....but "winner by elimintatin": Desmond Dekker's "Israelites" in DAILY rotation! I liked the h'accent and da guitar pickin', even though i wasnt playing yet. wikipedia sez: #1 april 1969! I had got Rubber Soul from Capitalist Record Club (you know,man...CAPITAList records,mannnnnn...)...and #1 that , month was Beatles "Get Back"! (which, per usual, "dont let me down" ended up getting more airplay on my kindergarten sister's close-and-play at 99 State Street, Brockport NY. SO, even though I started Indiana's first punk band (da Gismos), reggae fan since 1970, which equals almost as long as i play da Gistar,mon".....

freitag ides of march 2024. somerville grooves 2020 lockdown purchase for $1.99 is: a Charlie Rich 1 jan 70 Sun records reissue: A Time For Tears. sad country songs, yes:I remember that post-Altamont tyme, the Sun reissue albums I wuz buyin' wuz Johnny Cash/Jerry Lee Lewis, so it only took me fiddy years to check out ole Chaz. My favourite is the album opener: "Gentle as a lamb": "some girls like it rough and be tossed around/just like Marlon Brando in all those movies you see" (DEAD PEOPLE FACT: my mother and Marlon Brando both descend from Hartford Ct. founder Thomas Spencer!); BUT Chaz sez he's "gentle as a lamb" and he has a nice Elvis type bass voice, so "let me be your teddy bear"/"lamb"....get it? (did NOT play the record backwards for secret message!). This song and album all on youtube, so check it out! Good stuff!"....

"freitag ides of march 2024. mad painter practice. In atendance: Alex Gitlin-vocals/keyboards; sharon crumrine-keyboards; schmel herbie hind- guitar; me-bass,al hendry-drums. two next originals, we worked one: one had a Grateful Dead "truckin'" groove and Schmel SANS distortion (WHAT?? Really?? -ed) did a great "casey Jones" Jerry solo! Schmel and I recently discovered we were Deadheads back "then". Another heavy riffer with a "rock and roll hoochie coo" riff had the same feel as Bloodrock's "Melvin laid an egg" (which HAS been sampled in hip-hop!) rounding out what i remember was Uriah Heep's "circles of hands" and lastly, Gee Julie went to Arax ArmeniaN store in watertown and got Schmel and Crow Follow's Ramona Armenian food and coffee and some light-up gimmick Schmel wants to see in BGN. dont forget to like Mad Painter on Facebook! same with Kenne Highland's air force whom play Matt burns memorial sunday 28 july 24 the burren. lastly, galaxy cake the jungle saturday next 23 march 24 and wade's bbq WILL deliver to you, so have your Galaxy Cake and/or eat shit too".....
