1985, James Mathew Burns of V at my jumpin' jack flash
birthday (mentioned in whack the cat!) 30 years and many bands
later, receive gift card to Somerville theatre (built in 1914 and dad's mother,
Frieda Maxine Highland born Detroit 14 june 14!). $7 2 pm matinee was: Kingsman
_The Secret Service! Ok, dunkin' donuts, "him like keroauc"
spiel and WHY in my caffeinated, Joe Coughlin-ated state you should SEE this
movie: it's Brit-ish, set in Londinium (1/2 the Jumper Cables sailed from there
april 1635 on the Increase!), it has James Bond overtones PLUS My Fair Lady:
a "common" kid in the "council flats" dressed like Emi-Wahlberg,
white hat and all, as DIZZIE RASCAL plays (bring back GRIME music! oi first
'eard o' it on the BBC on WBUR!) learns to be a gent'il'min and a spy. global-warming
conspiracy and is samuel l. jackson 'spose to be russell simmons giving away
free phones that implant in you, make you go violent, Obama's head is shown,
New World Order, "cull the herd", lotsa violence...oh, yes, music
recorded at ABBEY ROAD, AND a hate-Phelps-church in Kain-tuck, mass murder as
"Freebird" plays!!!! a phrase by me: "camp-ily gory", like
herschel gordon lewis with bloodthirsty hillbillies, but the London
pub life of lower-class blokes vs. "yew lot who are born with a silver
spoon up yer arse"...and many other lovely Brit-isms! action-packed and
again, for fans of the Connery-era Bond films for sure!"....
wikipedia facts on the Kingsman film tell the council flat where filming
was AND pub scenes in the black prince pub, KENNINGTON, London (i THINK Gee
Julie had ancestors there); LIKE it on facebook!

Boston Groupie sports report for Opening Day and it IS Rat
related: I would Get Nervous Behind the wall o' sleep whenever the
Bristols played the Rat on opening day with Captain PJ in
attendance (friend PJ LeBlanc!) openin' day '81 ran into Jimmy Dufour
of The Loners and he said he was opening a recording studio;
that was Radiobeat and for $15 through Joe Harvard in NJ you
can buy my five beers ahead of his tyme stantion park lp! (radiobeat
sessions during the WONDERFUL years of ronald reagan!) got home and
a lotta westwood one sports news, that 21year old kid winning the open...just
call me Highland S. Thompson-Meltzer on sports! (I picked up WFAN in
NYC; Yankees game! gotta hold the antenn-er a certain way...)....and
then Coast to Coast was sayin' the ancient Greeks/ancient Sumerians
never disappeared, they're ridin' 'round in spaceships! "I had
too much to dream last night"...why dont i lissen to Cactus's "let
me swim" on youtube; lissen to that bass intro, it's SO Carl Biancuci!
yep, our incestors sailed from London april 1635 on the increase and
landed in harvard square/newtown july 1635.....3 months at sea....hi
ho!....actually found Carl's illustrious Puritan kin buried in both
the ole Mt. auburn cemetery (find a grave) AND the ole harvard square
burial ground on Mass. Ave.....hmmmm...Carl's been on Mass. Ave. as
long as I have! (it was Cowpath Lane then....bring back the "Whippin'
Post"!)
Wednesday April 15, 2015
the ghost of Solomon Gruberger had me tune into WFAN, NYC to lissen to some
of the Mets game; the O. Rex boys also liked the Brooklyn Dodgers "back
then"; 31 december 73, stooges, NYC, Crecenzo Capece of cretinous contentions
'zine heard "rocky mountain way" over the p.a. and said 'baseball
rock" ("bases are loaded and Casey's at bat"); i sent an article
on same and Creem rejected me! well fuck them, I got the BGN and Gulcher! did
somebody just play "scorpio QUEEN"?
coast to coast AM, Kelly Milner Halls and The
Wonders of Weird; check out hers and coast to coast website! sasquatch story:
dude left some grape soda to throw bigfoot off his trail; came back, soda was
"bone-dry" but Bigfoot had left an empty turtle shell as a thank you!
another good quote: your ancestors will protect you from evil spirits or something
like that (c'mon it's 0400, i got up to pee coz i'm old, then, like the Kinks
"Just cant go to sleep"!)...BUT Gee Julie 0700; "where's
my Bit?"; yes, REQUESTING her facebook friend Bob Bittner and WJIB!!!
heard simon and gizfunkel and "the boxer", so "early 1970"(a
ringo b-side!), i wuz livin' the brockport projects, 8th grade near SUNY Brockport,
Bob Richert, class of '70; 6 years later: the Gizmos! Bob Bittner at RIT and
WCMF...paul simon singin' 'bout "the 'ho's on 7th avenue" BUT it was
maybe a year later at vince's record store, main street, brockport NY that i
got the stones boot LIVER THAN You'll ever Be and in "live with me"
: "the cook she is a 'ho"; add the "Little queenie" riff
of of Ya Ya's and november '73, pushin' a broom (not TOO hard...) at Brockport
high school, wrote "that's cool" in 10 minutes like "pushin'
too hard"...the orange "Fiacso" Kenne record I was in Chelsea,
Mass. 0400 with a 2-wheeler pushin' 'round crates of diakon singin' to micelf
and wrote THAT album; Hiram Williams is Wright: "country music aint nuthin'
but a white man's blooze"!!!!!......
as George Noory says "there ARE no coincidences! My great-grandmother
Highland descends from Tabitha Tefft Gardiner of RI; read The Tefft papers:
"the shannock (where plan 9 live) purchase" was made on "vacant"
indian lands (bury my hog at wounded knee!) by an uncle and two cousins, one
of whom descends from the Tefft that got drawn and quartered for fighting for
the indians! this is all due south of my other cuzzin Mercy Brown the vampire....southern
rhode island rules! they even have Great Swamp tours!"....
"let me also mention the pre-Dog Night career of Cory Wells. Between wikipedia
and youtube, the Buffalo, NY member of the band who sang the blue-est-eyed soul
numbers (LOVED his raspy voice!) lissened to gospel out of store fronts like
i played about 10 years ago, blue hill ave., dorchester vs. Buffalo; when he
sang "a change is gonna come": "I was BORNNNN by the NIAGRA river"...still
fishes in dunkirk home of tom bingham who interviewed me for FFFAAAAANNNNNZZZZEEEENNNN
in '79! but a quick mention of cory wells and the enemies and watch
all this on youtube/read
it on wikipedia! Cory was in USAF, had a buffalo band, then moved to LA
at THE right tyme; Byrds etc. sunset strip....SO...watch Cory
Wells and the Enemies on the beverly hillbillies dressed like the chesterfield
kings!!!! Miss Jane go-go dancin'; also another show with Annette at a go-go
dancer and house band is enemies PLUS Riot on sunset strip! they only did four
45s but they're....more legendary than the Gizmos! (kickstart
and get me to bloomington 11 july!)
Thursday April 16, 2015
a little NBA action on WEEI AM, then Coast to Coast AM had bumper music with
Deep Purple's "Hush" from 1968;99 state street brockport NY, bob richert
at SUNY BROCKPORT and Bob Bittner at RIT. ditto this morning on WJIB AM when
Bob Bittner played the New Colony Six's "I will always think about"!
1968 i bet i first heard Deep Purple and New Colony Six on WCMF rochester; i
even finally kinda figgered out the chords! D-C-G-A i think and chorus is B
to E like a Lyres garage-pop toon. lastly, havin' a blood test acrost
from Johnny D's, Somerville and i get an ear worm of "when i put a spike
into my vein.....and things aint quite the same"...singin' Lou Reed's "Heroin"
with a needle in my arm....yea.....what the fuck....and these actions ARE Giroux-approved!".....
Friday April 17, 2015
per usual, WJIB gittin' me on the late '60s "Time Machine" (a grand
funk 45 i got Gzimas '69): tri-fecta: Ida May: "try a lil kindness"
by glen o' th' Campbell clann! intro IS same chords as "comunication brekadown"!
Ken Kaiser should not try this at home with his "white rabbit".
then, I heard this as an "oldie" on WCMF rochester NY, where Bob Bittner
was when at RIT: "my boy lollipop"-millie small; i loved doin' Chuck
Berry chords during the "middle 8" AND John Ono Lennon liked Delbert
McClinton's harmonica playing, so he STOLE a harp in Europe (Beatle facts!)
leading into my august '68 purchase of Meet the Beatles (John plays "mouth
organ" on "lil child"!) and ole Bob Bittner plays "til there
was you" NOT released on 45 in '64! These Beatles facts woulda been ground
for divorce, but i actually prefer Brian Jones harp playing on first five stones
albums, plus he is four tymes more Welsh than John and probably 16 tymes more
WELSH than my dad and.....they're all DEAD!"...
'twas one o' my brockport high classmates birthday (she posted pictures of
her at watkins glen in '73;That '70s show!) and besides remembering brockport
facebook group, they have Barge In, Stumble Out group! just-a buncha brockport
townies remiscin' 'bout a bar IMORTALISED in song by me in "jailbait janet"....yep,
I AM the Bruce Springsteen of Brockport! other point i learnt through facebook;
my ole classmate's older brother brought Kinks to SUNY Brockport in december
'75 AND Elvis Costello/Willie Loco to SUNY Brockport, which means Steve Walker
tells WA hello, WA in Gloucester, Steve in Brockport, me Stuck inside of mobile
with the memphis blues again! (meaning had a ball at Gonerfest, so pledge money
for Gizmos world tour and MUTANT fest so i can be in Pitssburgh at amtrak station
that Dad's father was PBRRR railroad clerk at a hunnert years ago"....
a pleasant surprise on my facebook wall; my facebook friend Jerry Mcgeorge,
rhythm guitar, shadows of knight made a couple comments on first buffalo
springfield album, to wit; "they called it their abortion...then the vision
of the second album" (paraphrased!) AGREED! though i commented that back
Door Man was a damn good second lp too! Jerry also liked a SECOND (disraeli
gears) Cream lp with outtakes; read wikipedia! after shadows of knight, he played
bass on first HP Lovecraft lp and still doin' music; as for me; first shadows
of knight lp was $1 and i respected the gurl more! XMAS '72, 16 and Savaged!"......
so i'm lissenin' to first two Grand Funk albums and i know Mark Farner's Yankee
granny had western NY/New England roots; our mutual ancestor is John Rathbun
of lincolnshire to RI. rootsweb had some REAL good facts: ole John had an affair
with his 19 year old cuzzin...this is my great-grandmother Highland's side,
SO much inbreeding on Highland side PLUS he was an original owner of Block Island
and some Newport farm he had owned by Jackie Onassis, oh yeah..those Rhode Islanders
lived like english lords/southern gentry, lotta slave-owning on my dad's side
too....interesting facts and a reason for my two great passions: historical
societies in RI (must visit) and GRAND FUNK RAILROAD! (been a fan since age
13, 1969, bay-bay)....
