Montag 6 may 2024. Guilt on channel two PBS 0500, takin' place in Scotland. Besides a lad with a man bun that had a band AND a record store before his reivin' brother put him in the red (or is it da black..."it's their colour scheme"!), I MUST commend this Trainspottin'-type series for it's soundtrack, captions by Miss Lyn for those of us deef in one ear and dinna bother to lissen out the other)...."Strange" by Wire had the ole "Sister Ray" riff in it; certain Insect Surfers were Wire fans and recorded a cover of "ex-lion tamer", thus I know of them; "Penny arcade" by Roy Orbison which is versus "candy coloured clown" in Blue Velvet, which would make this series a wee bit of Plaid Velvet wi' Frank MacBooths and all swearin' revenge); "Darlin'" by frankie miller and lastly: lastly "the faith healer" by the sensational alex harvey; band;when I saw them in '74 on Solomon Gruberger's tiny black and white in Brooklyn, I LOVED the makeup on the guitarist and wanted me own Sensational Kenne Highland Band! Let's no forget thuh Kenny Burns character tae....dis series iz da bollocks!".

"Dienstag 7 may 2024. walked into Diesel Cafe, davis square this morn to da sounds of Lou Reed's "satellite of love": Lou Reed at 0800 iz da ballz! over coffee, did some wiki: walk on the wild side/perfect side (first Lou Reed 45 i bought in '73) was followed by "satellite of love" (with "vicious" on the european b-side equal "an e.p.'s worth of tunes" off of Transformer). Reasons Ted Niemic was in da Gismos: Wilkie South early '76, there was a piano in da common area. Teddy, age 18,sang and played a awesome NOT recorded version of "satellite of love"AND "Muff divin' USA" to da toon of chicago's "saturday in the park". Ted's dad and Chicago keyboardist Robert Lamm did a 45 on the USA label and Lamm, as house guest, DID teach young Ted piano! I inverted da chords into a neo-Thunders lick and thus a Gismos hit wuz born; yep, Chicago meets da Dolls! My morning was also brightened by Lou Reed into da Kinks wid "you really got me"; MORE reasons "My Head's in '73"!

Dienstag 7 may 2024. as usual the People's Karaoke at Vera's with Captain Easychord! . Ken and Captain duet on Sly Stone's "everybody is a star". Captain sings "carefree highway"by gordon lighfoot. folks sang some good toons and ANOTHER birtday party! prince; i want to be your lover/abba; gimme! gimme! gimme!; ramblin' man/walk on the wild side/brandy. captain shot a vid of me doing "try a little tenderness" where I cross Otis live at monterey with three dog night captured live at the forum. what i like about you/seven nation army: white stripes; say it aint so-weezer/queen's fat bottom gurls/i would die 4 u: prince; then he kiss me. Cato Jaguar/ bartender and Horsch Fascher of the Independent hollers "hey y'all like the '90s right?" and does a static X toon; good singer! after three hours of singing along with karaoke it was like a three hour Baptist revival and WHAT wuz the closin' hymn? "dont you want me Boucher" by da Human league! EVERY Tuesday at Vera's, "a real cool tyme....tonight"

My next attempt: stevie wonder's "I was made to love her" (learnt from my cuzzin Carl Wilson on Bleach Boize Wild Honey) and "can i get a witness"-Marvin Gaye via Mick Jadestone and the Rolling Boulders. Anything black/southern/gospel-inflected is my range, thus "I dont need no stinkin' vocal lessons!
