I CANNOT say enuff about the staff of this nice lil bar (FREE DRINKS!) and other non-Boston snobbery/scenesterism etc. and da Holy Oaks! Schmel Herbie Hind has known Lambie Boy since grade school; during Heavy Mental Parking Lot, I met a feller from morthern Virginia whom introduced Lamby to Gorge Mason U. (plays the Gizmos!) Sean Epstein whom all covered "weer gonna rumble" on Gismo my Way, Kenne LIVING tribute album. A lady got up and did some Linda Rondstadt-sih (my distant cuzzin! roots rock turning a pig's ear into a Silk Purse, highlight being the Miracles toon "you really got a hold on me".) then it wuz all dudes, highlight being Long John Lamby (MAYBE Long John Baldry's height; didnt have my Puppet Ruler!) doin' dat Beatles b-side "Rain", lotza clean/jangly guitar, a pleasure to hear. Mad Painter made a video that will bite us in the ass for years to come (like John Mellencamp introducing the Gismos satuday 9 april 77) and alles der musik wast wunderbar! Alex Gitlin-vocals/keyboards; schmel herbie hind never making ONE Ken Kaiser mistake on guitar; Al Hendry's drums like a Locomotive Breath or a Hendry playin' footie fer Scotland and the Mamas to our papas: (Sharon) Needlez (Crumrine) and (Gee Julie) Pinz on da vocals/dancing and tambourine: SHOWGURLS! Me on bass wid my Dianna Ross DNA match. Like Foghat, Mad Painter equals "Road Fever"!
Tuesday, July 2, 2024 saturday 29 June 2024. Ken and Gee Julie spend fun afternoon in Springfield,Mass. Highlight for me wuz da olde cemtery, lotza Bliss and Chapin cuzzins in dere. Gizstoric society has a statue of Harry's Puritan Chapin ancestor who wuz a deacon under Pynchon's preacher ancestor. So i researched my cuzzin Harry's hit "Taxi" which was early '72,meaning I knew him in 1672. Hugh Hefner is a Bliss cuzzin and in '72, I wager I wrote "pumpin' to playboy". didnt read Pynchon til '90s or so maybe....either way, any afternoon in a cemtery iz da ballz! Long John Badlry and his hoochie coochie Men Long John Blues. a 1990s MONO reissue of his 1964 album; some now "common" blues standards but what a voice! Five dollar purchase! BUT bonus and "Best Bet" cut is a cover of Rosetta Tharpe's "up above my head" with a duet by Rod Stewart; he is SO awesome here! "Up above my head" was the b-side of "you'll be mine" released 19 June 64, about when Miss Lyn wuz watchin' Hard day's night. Dis 45 is $49.99 on e-bay,but this somerville grooves lp wuz one-tenth of that. "I call thet a bargin; th' bist oi ever 'ad!"
