Sonntag ides of September 2024. da Scy-Fy channel does
usually show Plan Nine-level kino and "Lazy Sunday"
had Warm Bodies, 1 Feb 13 release. A Zombie boy named
R falls in love wid a regular live gurl name Julie; Zombie boy
collects records and Julie calls him "a purist and a hoarder"....I'm
gonna listen to a Fraulein who dances to Bruce Springsteen "empty
heart" album on vinyl? At least there's an Armageddon scene
with the Scorpions "rock me like a hurricane" playing;
a 45 I "got into" drunk at Deli Haus and even raved
to Casey Lindstrom of the Jetts about...finally,
drunken pain in arsch, he usually walked away saying "yeah, yeah

day of Wodin 18 sept 2024. after Ken and Gee Gee
Julie sang along to GG allin's "you
hate me and i hate you" and "bored to death" on youtube,
i found a 2020 Somerville Grooves bag of 45s; musta been raidin'
the caribean collection. Played my $20 copy of "Mona Lisa"
by Lord cobra and the martiniques; captain easychord
texts: "costa rican garage rock?" Nein! Lord Cobra wuz
a big-ass legend in Panama as a calypso singer! I jammed along with
"Mona Lisa" and could play "Hernando's Hideaway"
from da pajama game. Dis IZ on a Panamanian label and discogs lists
it as for sale $21 and chump change PLUS is a youtube but, like
the Turtles , it's in my "hot little hands". My love of
calypso musta came from my parents Harry belafonte records and circa
"questions '67 and '68", believe I bought Ma the Harry
Belafonte albums she lost during "D_I_V_O_R_C_E). either way,
gotta check more Lord Cobra!

Caribbean 45s from somerville grooves during 2020 lockdown. So,
another winner is a ten dollar copy of "what is yours is
yours" by the Society Playboys with Bert Innes.
Lotsa double entendre lyrics on this Trinidad label pre-dating
Los Gismos by decades! Society Playboys backed up lotsa calypso
singers and Bert Innes worked with the Mighty
Sparrow! Record wonks will love this'un: Geets
Romo had a portland maine record shoppe and his customer
wuz Robert Zimmerman. Chris Brood had
to go to college class, so missed this encounter (y'all can ask
Geets dis). DESPITE there being Kenne records in the shoppe (Geets
dealt with solomon gruberger and roland kaiser's cuzzin) Zim bought,
among others....THE MIGHTY SPARROW! dat versus Moin WOrld? der
answer ist "Blowing mid der wind'! (Geets said: "I had
just sold him a book of local poetry, which he is holding. He
also bought a big pile of records including LPs by The Barbarians;
Drifters; Mighty Sparrow, etc-ed)
