Editor's Note: Hey readers 1) The BGN will be updated every other week from now on....below we have the latest from Kenne Highland 2) Kenne was sent to the ER on Tuesday Oct 29th because of a bad finger infection. He stayed overnight and is back home but not in work (which means no computer access) until a later date. SO below is his most recent news...he should be back by the next BGN with all new Ken Highland stuff to read.
Monday, October 21, 2024 Saturday 19 october 2024. attended Crystal Ballroom small mart 1100-4 pm (next one is 7 and 21 December). wun't nuthin' ah needed BUT, though dressed like Jed Clampett, ah reached into mah hillbilly wallet and pulled out a tenner for Pete from High Energy Vintage. as usual, five two dollar 45s; off the top of mein head, three early '70s AM classics, the Richie Family and a Jimmy Dean picture sleeve; all dem five to be played after arbeit Monntag to Freitag dis week! (darfe i say, "precise Modern Lovers order; ORDER ist von mein deutsch dna! Moin Flensburg! Tuesday, October 22, 2024 saturday 19 october 2024. Global Grooves Party. Juliet Social Club ,union square,somerville,mass. soul-jazz-funk-disco-house, all played by DJ Nitesh. I had stopped in there earlier, found out he wuz playin' vinyl, so we discussed a Freddie Hubbard album and High Five'd coz I was lissenin' bak 'ome to a average white band 45 (two dollars from High energy vintage). Next up he played Ron Robin-esque disco 12 inches on the West End label, proto-house music from '70s, great bass-lines. O'Jays 12-inch, "we are family" (extended version!) and last call wuz Madonna's "groove to the music". Also heard a lotta Mandrill-esque Afro-Latin conga beatz wid horns, neo-Santana. Dance floor wuz packed wid halter and tube tops and allededgly saturday 16 Nov iz da next dance party. If yer pushin 70 and danced at the other side, dis iz as gud as it getz!"

Thursday, October 24, 2024 Sonntag 20 October 2024. My distant cuzzin Linda Gareau Highland (mort) always liked options. Today: somerville flea market 1100-4 pm and/or Turing Tavern karaoke 7-11 pm. Instead opted for Comet "TV eye on me" and binge of X-files! 1994: banned from kirkland cafe but MTV and Vh-1 still showed MUSIK so din't watch this, but now....again the 1994 episode: bad haircut on agent Scully plus big ole white computers/floppy discs and mobiles with antennae! Friday, October 25, 2024 freitag 25 october 2024. Like Mad painter on facebook and like Kenne Highland's air force on facebook AND even some Kenne record news! I had a "memory" on facebook of the Howl of the she-wolf cd (Matt Burns (RIP) swan-song wid me, VERY high note drumming) and got interest from Oz (dave laing, dogmeat records) and Patryck Albert (radio show in France). AMC showin' scary movies so the 9 may 80 halloween wuz on; saturday 17 may 80 hangin' out in allston with jimmy dufour/loners and we saw PIL on american bandstand, then went to newbury comix. what i missed wuz scantily-clad teens in cabin in woods makin' out with a very young kevin bacon smokin' a joint. shot in new jerssey in '79....i'd get stoned too Tuesday, October 29, 2024 saturday 0100 or so 26 october 2024. lissenin' to coast to coast AM WRKO 680 AM, Richard Syrett, a Canadian host whom always has rocknroll references, awoke me from my "Golden Slumbers" referencing Chilliwack whom i hadnt thought of in Fiddy Years. A "underground" Canadian band formed in 1970, musta read about them in Rolling stone or Fusion magazine. Either wat, Richard is aimin' to have a show saluting Canadian artists! Hopeless Obscurity would be the Paupers and/or Neil Young AND Rick James (Ich schiess du nicht!) in the mYnah Birds! AM radio 0100-0500 and in MONO!
