Sonntag 10 Dec 2023. 4-7 pm. Worthern Attic Lowell Mass. Anklin Dan presents a EPIC show with a "heart full of soul"! Opening was Galaxy Cake; to quote Gee Julie (you think I write my own reviews? Wrong, Brothers!) "Not as complex and full harmonied; galaxy cake was sweet". "Gimme Back my Press Kit"! I thought the female-fronted vocals were in the "looking through gary gilmore's eyes" vein or the Avengers (San Fran punk, mid-70s) PLUS flute! (punk flute? "It's a Happenin' Thing"!) Treats wuz "why dont we do it in the road"; my great-great-grandmother Highland has a mutual distant cuzzinship with Patricia Krenwinkle, but, dang, I lissen to the White Album as much as ole Chaz manson, ain't kilt nobody (yet!). There was also a song about how much the MTA SUCKS with a chord progression reminiscent of the Afrika Korps "make her know" (1977 punk; as I ate my Kerouac burger KNOWING he were Miss Lyn's distant cuzzin, I ponderated the factz of dis band bein' like "retro-punk" as I dissolve into a Happy/Sad Clown).

Mad Painter rocked da house like a moddafocka; "God Knows I'm Good" if the other bands in dancin' to bands I'm not fired from yet for BEING more Flamboyant. Me and Al Hendry were locked into a Grand Funk Railroad rhythm section groove, Schmel Herbie Hind I followed him on guitar like Jay Gruberger used to follow Solomon Grubegerger (Afrika Korps live at cantne's on gulcher!), as for Alex Gitlin: "He plays like Jon Lord of Deep Purple!"-Shel Pierce, the Runes."...

BUT, as leon Rich sez, the icing on the cake put me into a meshugga suger coma with (Sharon) Needlez (Crumrine) and (Gee Julie) Pinz on vocals/tamoburine/dancin' like Motown in flowered and striped trousers and Needlez ALSO on flute; think Bloodrock's Passages album). Closing was Church and Puppets; guitarist told Gee Julie they were "Welsh pop rock" (hey in the '90s I drank with the Stereophonics at TT the Dead Boston Bear club!). I took a poll and got three opinions: "Son Volt with female singer"-anklin dan. "smashing pumpkins"-Dave Wildman, school of rock. "vocals are like Tori Amos or Kate Bush"- Gee Julie. Thanks to Holly kantor for use of bass amp; outside, where jack Kerouac surely stood, Church and Puppets drummer was raving about mad painter whilst wearing a Tool shirt. Dont be a fool; listen to the guy that listens to Tool!

Then researched famous Kin and dig these matches: jim Carrey/Shemar Cook/Angelina Jolie/Bridget Fonda AND....jack kerouac!

The Cyrus Eeerie part is i didnt know about the cardinal/keouac connection, til I played Worthen here jack had hung; booked by Anklin Dan echo'd been in MY local, the barge Inn/Stumble out in brockport NY, memorialized in "that Slickee Boys song""Jailbait janet" (a direct STEAL from Lil Richard's "keep a-knockin'"! saturday 9 dec 2023. WMBR at 0600 has 8-rewind. trackblaster says they playing a survey from 11 Dec 67, WWIN, 1400 AM, Bakd-a-more, Murlind (PLEASE drive gently!) GREAT stuff, but this week's ear worm for This Year's Supa-Model was "Up up and away", Hugh masekala version on Uni! the 45 is on discogs for only $1.25! The album it from is Hugh masakela is alive and well at the whiskey (Uni, 1967). So i woulda heard the Fifth Dimension version, but Discogs lists the next 45 as "Grazing in the Grass" (1968) which was the year I went from "cowboys to gurls" (shoulda stuck to drinkin' Camp Lejeune water and claimin' I was the Rifleman!

day of Thor 14 sept 2023. WMBR The Pontoon palace 0709 "san francisco girls" by Fever Tree! DONT remember hearing it that post-Tet Offensive summer of '68 so thinkin' i got it on some psychelic comps on casette in '90s? Either/Orchestra, it starts all "knights in white satin" ephemeral, THEN goes into a neo- "Hey Joe" riff that inspired me to play along about 0711, discovering it was A-C-D_G, kinda like "She's my best friend" by Dark Carnival! But, the "icing on the cake" was a neo-Jeff Beck yardbirds-era solo that echoes mark Farner on "Ups and Downs" on Grand Funk's "Ups and Downs" (which was technically farner on Messenger guitar channeling some Beck-era Yardbirds licks). This song Klearly Kalls: "Kover Me, Kenne!" (brought to you by the letter K!)

God bless wikipedia: Long Island "american psychedleic rock band'..."their only album released 1969".."welcome to the void" includes several references to fairy tales and folklore, including jack Be Nimble and peter Pan." This mind-blowing 4:46 song IS on youtube! of course it takes a song from 1969 to make me wake up and notice...lastly, discogs selling a original first press 1969 record for $1251! let's see....music to kill by $96 with autograph...O. other self-promotion before i go back to listening to bluegrass on WPAQ mount airy NC: like the Kenne Highland air force page on facebook, Schmel Herbie Hind doing a great job on it plus also the Mad Painter page. With my Protestant work ethic on volume 11, I HAD turnt down a parkside lounge NYC gig BUT Satch Kerans took it and stellar band! George Hall of Dogzilla on guitar (that's MR Gregg Zhodske to you, she of Crytic Edge whom backed me up on "LSD for brekfast" and my five beers album: $18.48 on discogs BUT only 500 pressed! "Hopelessly Obscure", as they say...),,,AND Satch has a KILLER rhythm section being larry Newman on bass and Al Hendry on drums! (listen to them on that Asa tribute where I sing "i'm in love"...I've done power trio rhythm tracks with Mr. Peabody and they sound like Grand Funk railroad,man....)...ok maybe that it...may i add that fiddy years ago, between rochester NY and NYC I saw Montrose one week Lou GRAMMatico in black Sheep the next and New Year's eve with the Stooges...and Gizmas 1969 i got a Grand Funk 45 so..."come on over baby/step into my time machine
