If you're reading this on Monday make sure to go to Zuzu's for the opening reception for : BOSTON PUNK GOES TO THE DOGS! UNNATURAL AXE TO SWING AT ART OPENING ON MARCH 15th!" KEEP OUT - The Dogs of Cuba" showcasing photos of Cuban canines by John Nikolai. A local photographer who specializes in images of the pioneers of punk, revolutionary scientists, heroes of the American left and beautiful women…. on a government-approved educational excursion to Cuba in 2003, that Fido, not Fidel, inspired some of his best work. Opening reception for photos at 10pm, Unnatural Axe plays at 10:30. The show hangs throughout March. And for St Patrick's Day…3/17/04: Mad Cat Productions presents Chords & Discourse: Punk Rock Paddy's Day @ The Paradise Lounge. This month's featured artist is none other than the original Irish Pogues rocker Shane McGowan. This month's performers/storytellers include: Jason Bennett (Suspect Device), Kier Byrnes (Three Day Threshold), Texas Bob (High Plains Drifter), The Larkin Brigade, and My Dearest Screwtape. EARLY SHOW!!! We'll be getting our green on early for this installment with doors at 7pm. All the better to enjoy the Paradise Lounge's $4.95 menu till 8pm! Following Chords & Discourse, the Paddy's Day punk rock revelry will continue with Blackout Bar kicking off at 10pm. No green beer, but loads of Guinness available….also on Wednesday but not necessarily St paddy's day-ish will be The Belmondos sharing the evenings festivities with the Black Cat Burlesque at the Lizard Lounge…..it all starts at 9:30 baby…get a thrill with those ultra hot girls on stage it all starts at ….wooohooooo!!…..and coming up, a fun show: March 26th at The Abbey: The Black Listed, Karination, Classic Ruins and The Country Docktors…and in April (we tell ya now so you can mark up your calendar!) 4/3/04 @ The Abbey-The Tamp-offs, Spitzz<, The Sdabs (from NJ, x-Blanks 77), The Traps……and from Randall Gibson some important news for all you that remember and loved The Neats: Hey guys, Eric Martin's band ,MGM….that's Martin, Gibson and MacClachlan (formerly known as The Illyrians.) Are back and starting to play again !!!! We have become a three piece band and like it !!! Our first gig is gonna be kind of interesting, its at a club called Lew's Place in Tewksbury , 20 Carter St. April 10. we're playing without any other bands. The club(bar) is attached to a health club . but I'm told that its not a bad place to play so, here we go !!!!! Since we've become a trio our songs have taken on a cool new sound , Eric and Cris make a sound that drives my drumming crazy!!!!" so if you know where Tewksbury is and can get there you really really should go!!!
