The Harvard Film Archive is having a film series called American Punk...no Boston punk film is in there but they have covered all the higher profile films...The Decline of Western Civilization, Suburbia, and The Blank Generation. They also have the ultra low buget cheese Desperate Teenage Lovedolls - HARVARD FILM ARCHIVE-AMERICAN PUNK. It goes from September 2 to Sptember 26...and (for those that care) the HFA is in the Carpenter Center the only Le Corbusier building in America.
And from the Phoenix....some news everyone seems to be talking about....understandably
so: Just a few weekends ago, while running back and forth and all over in between
the Starlabfest BBQ and Deep Heaven Now's two stages at P.A.'s Lounge and
Precinct, we marveled at the vibrancy of Union Square in Somerville. This
October, it'll gain even more action within the city's music scene, as the recently
shuttered Club Choices on Somerville Avenue re-opens under new ownership as
RADIO, a restaurant and live music venue headed up by Rosebud bartender
Josh Banville and booked by Boston Band Crush's Ashley Willard. And
from Boston Band Crush : Our own
Ashley Willard will be acting as the club's booker, and chef Jim Seery (formerly
of The Plough & Stars) will be coming on board with a menu of American comfort
food... Booking inquires: playatradio@gmail.com" This place sounds like it will be awesome!!
AND if that isn't enough.....a new record store: Somerville
Grooves , opened in Union Square, on August 13th For address and directions
