Well call us dumb but we hung out at Church hoping beyond hope that
some members of The Who, say as in Roger and Pete, might show up on stage
with Simon Townshend….we kinda thought it might happen way back when
the gig was first listed then Church posted a tease saying:
"While we can neither confirm, nor deny (and we'll probably catch some crap for mentioning it) other members joining him for a song or two, if you are a fan of the Who (and frankly who isn't?) you may want to snap up your tix as they are selling briskly!" While we can neither confirm, nor deny (and we'll probably catch some crap for mentioning it) other members joining him for a song or two, if you are a fan of the Who (and frankly who isn't?) you may want to snap up your tix as they are selling briskly!
I can tell you that was a desperate, attempt (and probably a lie) to get people
to buy tix cause it wasn't even near being sold out. So instead of anything
exciting and memorable we got over an hour wait (Church kept emphatically saying
the show would start at 6 but he didn't start until after 7) and a very looong
set of an solo acoustic Simon….yawn….we went to dinner at the resto…service
blew, food was OK. But they were very accommodating with our time change request
and I was with good pals on my bday so it was fun none the less!
As we enter the holiday season maybe you want to get in
the mood...you can go see Rudolph the Red Necked Reindeer with Gene
Dante playing both Prancer and Thurston Howell...put on by
the prestigious organization - The Ramrod Center for the Performing Arts....Globe
article on Rudolph the Red Necked Reindeer.
If you're looking for something to do Thanksgiving Eve, there's an interesting
show at TT's this Wednesday: The Hudson Falcons, Dirty Water (another
Mark Lind endeavor), The Unholy III and Spectre Hawk
Seems everything is closed since most people are spending
the day in a family kind of mode
.and I'm gonna be honest here there are
pretty slim pickin's that I can see for the weekend but there is a show for
a great cause at Radio on Friday 11/23 as Citywide Blackout presents
Rock & Roll for Rescue Animals an event to raise money for the Animal
Rescue League of Boston.
And there IS a good reason to go out on Saturday with MOTO
at the Midway. Matt Burns will be playing drums.
Now next week Friday November 30th there's Muck &
The Mires, Lyres and Jenny Dee and The Deeliquents at Precinct.
Then December 1 show at Moe's Lounge at Radio with James
Straight & The Wide Stance its changed a bit - Dennis McCarthy couldn't
make this show so The Port Charles
Quintet are unfortunately not playing
but hey Cadillac Heart &
James
Straight & The Wide Stance are awesome anyway!!
Graham Parker and the Original Rumour at the
Wilbur on Dec 6. .. will be great if he still "feels like pouring it
all out".
Bob Colby has come through with his promise to start booking gigs with
his inaugural Second Thursday at the Rosebud- for his first time he has
some great acts: Mary Lou Lord, My Own Worst Enemy and When Particles
Collide that's Thursday December 13th
On Friday Dec 14 there's the Boston Band Crush Holiday Spectacular
featuring Freezepop, Sidewalk Driver, The Field Effect, Emily Peal and the Band of Skinny Men
A few days before Christmas (Fri 21 and Sat 22) at the Paradise
they want you to Wreck the Halls (just really try and they will slap
you silly) with Street Dogs, Tenebrae, The Blue Bloods, The
Casualties and others.
Ok I was in denial about December …so now I am loathe to mention the new year…if
we actually get there…here's a bill that makes the fact that we survived worth
a trip out: at Radio (down) Saturday January 12 -Psycho, Kilslug,
Impenitent Thief, and The Burnouts
