Last year Simon Ritt released his video of the Standells' Dirty Water. It made its way around the Facebook World with loads of people sharing it. We loved it too!

In the video he verbally and visually name checks an unbelievable amount of bands and people from the Boston music scene...he also includes places, sports teams and other Boston phenomena. It's a feast for the eyes and ears of every Boston music fan! It's obvious Simon loves our music scene here….just to create and record this tribute was a true labor of love. We finally caught up with Simon and asked him some questions about the making of the video. He also gave a list of of everyone mentioned!!

And in other news.....

Congrats to The Cars getting in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. We had Ric Ocasek on the cover of our issue #27 in 1981. He already won the most coveted award then … we gave him the one and only BGN Medal of Honor. After the Cars got mega-big Ric opened up the Syncro Sound studios on Newbury Street. They recorded bands like Third Rail, Nervous Eaters (demos) New Models and Peter Dayton.

During the induction Elliot Easton gave a shout out to Maxine Satori of WBCN. Even in the just pre-punk era she had great taste and was a help to Aerosmith as well. JJ Rassler and Peter Greenberg of DMZ worked with Maxine.

The induction ceremony was also an occasion to remember Ben Orr. We missed the post-Cars carreer he would have had. We heard is later material and wish that was out there now. Elliot mentioned that Cleveland was Ben’s hometown.
